No matter what happens with Murray on or off the court, he will get his money since his contract is fully guaranteed. This puts them right at the 162 million projected luxury tax. The first person he contacted was Tommy Sheppard of the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are going into the summer with nine players under contract assuming Bruce Brown declines his 6.8 million player option. They are likely to stand pat after reshaping their bench and having their starters under. The Nuggets are also allowed to go over the salary cap to keep their point guard since his contract uses the Bird exception. The rest of the roster, which was left unprotected, would comprise the talent. The Nuggets’ roster is all set and Denver is currently projected with an 18 million luxury tax penalty.
